Copenhagen Airport — Frequently Asked Questions
Quick, up-to-date answers to the most common questions about Copenhagen Airport (CPH). Live wait-time figures update continuously on the homepage.
- How long is the security wait at CPH right now?
- The wait varies from a few minutes to around half an hour depending on the departure wave. The current, timestamped wait time is shown on the homepage.
- How early should you arrive at Copenhagen Airport?
- Arrive at least 2 hours before a Schengen departure and at least 3 hours before a non-Schengen departure. Add time if you have checked baggage or are travelling during a holiday.
- Which terminal do I use at CPH — Terminal 2 or 3?
- It depends on your airline and flight — check your boarding pass. Most people check in at Terminal 2; Terminal 3 is used by selected airlines and for arrivals. Departing passengers go through the same central security checkpoint.
- How much does parking cost at Copenhagen Airport, and where is it cheapest?
- The price depends on the car park and duration. The cheapest parking comes from pre-booking online and choosing a long-stay car park slightly further from the terminal. See the current price list at cph.dk.
- Is CPH parking full?
- During holidays and the morning rush the closest car parks can fill. Check current availability on the parking page, and pre-book to be safe.
- When does security open at CPH?
- Security is always open at least from 04:00 to 22:00. For earlier flights it opens at least two hours before the first scheduled departure.
- Do I need passport control at Copenhagen Airport?
- Only for travel to or from non-Schengen countries (e.g. the UK, USA, Asia). Within Schengen there's no passport control. Passport control is after security.
- Is CPH Fast Track worth it?
- Fast Track is most worth it when the regular queue is long — typically the morning rush and late afternoon. Check the current wait before buying; if the queue is short, you rarely save enough.
- When is Copenhagen Airport busiest?
- During the morning wave (around 05:00–08:00) and late afternoon, and across the year during school holidays, Easter, summer, and Christmas.
- What are the liquids rules at CPH?
- Pack as if the 100ml rule applies: liquids of 100ml or less in one transparent ~1-litre bag. With the new CT scanners, electronics stay in your bag and belts stay on, but the liquids bag must still come out and go visibly in a tray, and there is no larger-liquid allowance yet. Always confirm the current rule at cph.dk before you travel.
- How accurate is the security wait time shown here?
- We show Copenhagen Airport's official, timestamped figure — the best live signal available. During the current rollout of the new CT scanners, the real time to airside can run longer than the posted number, because the figure reflects the queue into the scanner and not the time spent waiting for a bag that's flagged for a manual check. Treat it as a floor and add a buffer at peak.
